Canyon bikes will be available in the United States in September of 2017. Until now, Canyon, the popular, direct-to-consumer German brand, has sold throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand, shipping tuned bikes direct to consumers homes. Canyon claims that assembly of its bikes, which are high quality and substantially cheaper than competitors’, takes less than 15 minutes, with tools and instructions provided.
Canyon’s United States facility will be located in Chino, California. Frank Aldorf, Canyon’s chief marketing officer said Southern California represents the biggest year-round cycling market for Canyon, so locating a warehouse there is important to be close to its customers.
Canyon USA will also handle customer service. Frank Aldorf, Canyon’s chief marketing officer, said that it is important to have customer and technical service in the US done by employees who speak the language natively. “From the very first day of operation we want to be certain we provide the best service,” Aldorf said.
“We want to be here with 2018 product. We want to be here with the latest technology, with the latest product that we can offer. The US customers are the ones who have waited the longest.” said Frank Aldorf, Canyon’s chief marketing officer.
Once Canyon.com opens for business in the U.S., the goal is to deliver a bike bought online to a buyer’s home or office within two weeks of when the order is placed.
Canyon currently sells consumer direct online in 20 countries. Canyon has been honored with awards by American cycling publications even without being available for sale. That, along with ProTour sponsorship, has helped create awareness and demand for Canyon stateside.
