Montana May Restrict Cycling

Montana is an amazing state to ride in whether you are visiting Glacier National Park or simply riding on mostly car free rural roads. In a bill proposed (named LC2196) in December 2016 laws in the state will limit cycling dramatically:

“A bicyclist may not ride on a two-lane highway outside the boundaries of a municipality when there is no paved shoulder on which to ride.” -bill LC2196

If passed the bill will ban cyclists from riding on two-lane roads without a paved shoulder in the state on a total of 7,000 miles of paved road and nearly 41,000 miles of unpaved dirt roads!

Kristi Drake, executive director of nonprofit advocacy group Billings TrailNet does not think that bill LC2196 will pass in its current form. –Bozeman Daily Chronicle

I’d like to meet the asshat who proposed that idiotic bill in a locked room with no windows…

    1. Kind of strange as most states are passing pro-cycling laws.

Ah, there’s always an idiot out there who believes cyclists are the scourge of humanity.
